future nostalgia

This research project explores a future vision in which streets are transformed into vibrant gathering spaces that foster connection rather than separation. To illustrate this idea, we create a guided tour accompanied by intriguing photographs and immersive soundscapes, depicting a future scenario in which streets are reimagined as inclusive environments for social interaction rather than solely serving the needs of automobiles. This tour served as the basis for a collaborative effort involving six co-researchers, each of whom contributed to the construction of a narrative that imagines how people will exist in this altered future.
The diverse narratives that emerged from this collaborative endeavour provided compelling insights into the societal effects and the transformational perception of transport in general. It emphasises the thrilling possibilities such a redesign could present for future urban planning.
This study not only investigates the future of transport in daily life but also develops a prospective methodology. Both the contextual awareness and methodological contributions of this research merit additional study, as they have the potential to significantly advance our understanding of future transportation and spatial planning.
