Empathy plays an essential role within the realm of design practice, as it involves having the ability to understand and interact with others. Diverse empathic practices, including tools, methods, and frameworks, have been proposed to aid designers in understanding users and collaborating effectively with them.
However, there is a misconception regarding the process of selecting the appropriate empathic approach that's relevant to the specific requirements of designers. Facilitating the identification, interpretation, and application of empathic methods in a suitable manner can substantially increase designers' empathic understanding.
This process entails designers' learning capacity to adopt an "other-oriented" perspective and their ongoing professional development, which involves both subconscious and conscious transformations at the behavioural and reflective levels.
In this project, a variety of alternative recommendations are presented, intended to assist and empower designers on their journey to develop empathic abilities. One proposed solution is the construction of empathic link cards or an experience library, which would serve as valuable resources for enhancing designers' empathetic abilities.
