spidy & you

The spidy&you project is an innovative initiative that seeks to challenge conventional design thinking by adopting a perspective that transcends human participation. By employing a speculative approach, designers are prompted to reflect on their attitudes, perceptions, and capabilities during the design process when interacting with non-human species.
The initiative introduces Recognition, Acceptance, and Interaction (RAI) guidelines to incorporate non-human empathy gradually into the design process. These guidelines enable designers to effectively include non-human perspectives and resolve their needs in research, thereby nurturing a deeper understanding and connection with non-human stakeholders.
Not only does this initiative redefine the role of designers, but it also questions the very essence of design. It seeks to cultivate an inclusive and diverse design landscape by emphasising the significance of collaboration with non-human entities.
